Jamad us Sani

Moon Sighting Prayer

Upon sighting the new crescent of Jamad us Sani (or within three days — the sooner the better), offer a 2-rakat prayer. Give charity (sadaqah) after the prayer, and Inshallah you will be kept safe throughout the month. - Rakat 1: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Tawhid](surah://112) thirty times - Rakat 2: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Qadr](surah://97) thirty times After salaam, recite the following Quranic verses, then give charity.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا كُلٌّ فِي كِتَابٍ مُّبِينٍ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا هُوَ وَإِن يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلَا رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ يُصِيبُ بِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ سَيَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ عُسْرٍ يُسْرًا مَّا شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِي إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ

Bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm Wa mā min dābbatin fil arḍi illā 'alallāhi rizquhā wa ya'lamu mustaqarrahā wa mustawda'ahā kullun fī kitābim mubīn Bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm Wa in yamsasakallāhu biḍurrin falā kāshifa lahū illā huwa wa in yuridka bikhayrin falā rādda lifaḍlihī yuṣību bihī man yashā'u min 'ibādihī wa huwal ghafūrur raḥīm Bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm Sayaj'alullāhu ba'da 'usriy yusrā Mā shā'allāhu lā quwwata illā billāh Ḥasbunallāhu wa ni'mal wakīl Wa ufawwiḍu amrī ilallāh innallāha baṣīrum bil 'ibād Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ ẓālimīn Rabbi innī limā anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqīr Rabbi lā tadharnī fardan wa anta khayrul wārithīn

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. There is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of deposit. All is in a clear record. (Surah Hud 11:6) In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. And if Allah should afflict you with harm, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends good for you, there is no repeller of His grace — He bestows it upon whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Surah Yunus 10:107) In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. Allah will bring about ease after hardship. Whatever Allah wills shall come to pass. There is no power except with Allah. Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Protector. I entrust my affair to Allah; indeed, Allah is All-Seeing of His servants. There is no god but You — glory be to You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers. My Lord, I am in need of whatever good You send down to me. My Lord, do not leave me alone, for You are the best of inheritors.

4-Rakat Salat of Jamad us Sani

Sayyid ibn Tawus narrates a four-rakat prayer to be offered anytime during Jamad us Sani. One who recites it is promised protection of life, wealth, and family for the full year. Offer two sets of two rakats: - Rakat 1: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Ayat al-Kursi](dua://ayat-kursi) once + [Surah al-Qadr](surah://97) twenty-five times - Rakat 2: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Takathur](surah://102) once + [Surah al-Tawhid](surah://112) twenty-five times - Rakat 3: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Kafirun](surah://109) once + [Surah al-Falaq](surah://113) twenty-five times - Rakat 4: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Nasr](surah://110) once + [Surah al-Nas](surah://114) twenty-five times

Tasbihate Arba'a

After completing the four rakats, recite Tasbihate Arba'a seventy times.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Subḥānallāhi walḥamdulillāhi wa lā ilāha illallāhu wallāhu akbar

Glory be to Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.

Salawat

Recite blessings upon the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and his Household seven times.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma ṣalli 'alā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Recite three times:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

Allāhumma ighfir lil mu'minīna wal mu'mināt

O Allah, forgive the believing men and the believing women.

Sajdah Recitation

Go into sajdah (prostration) and recite three times. Then pray to Allah for your needs.

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ يَا رَحْمَٰنُ يَا رَحِيمُ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūmu yā Dhal Jalāli wal Ikrāmi yā Raḥmānu yā Raḥīmu yā Arḥamar Rāḥimīn

O Ever-Living, O Self-Subsisting, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Most Merciful, O Most Compassionate, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

Ziyarat Prayer of Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (s.a.)

Before reciting the Ziyarat, offer a 2-rakat prayer dedicated to Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (s.a.), as narrated in Zawa'id al-Fawa'id. If possible: - Rakat 1: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Tawhid](surah://112) sixty times - Rakat 2: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Tawhid](surah://112) sixty times Otherwise: - Rakat 1: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Tawhid](surah://112) once - Rakat 2: [Surah al-Fatihah](surah://1) once + [Surah al-Kafirun](surah://109) once After completing the prayer, recite the Ziyarat below.

Ziyarat of Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (s.a.)

Recite the following Ziyarat, narrated by Sayyid Ibn Tawus in Iqbal al-A'mal:

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا سَيِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا وَالِدَةَ الْحُجَجِ عَلَى النَّاسِ اَجْمَعِينَ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الْمَظْلُومَةُ الْمَمْنُوعَةُ حَقَّهَا اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى اَمَتِكَ وَابْنَةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَزَوْجَةِ وَصِيِّ نَبِيِّكَ صَلاةً تُزْلِفُهَا فَوْقَ زُلْفَى عِبَادِكَ الْمُكَرَّمِينَ مِنْ اَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَاَهْلِ الْاَرَضِينَ

Assalāmu 'alayki yā sayyidata nisā'il 'ālamīn Assalāmu 'alayki yā wālidatal ḥujaji 'alan nāsi ajma'īn Assalāmu 'alayki ayyatuhal maẓlūmatul mamnū'atu ḥaqqahā Allāhumma ṣalli 'alā amatika wabnatī nabiyyika wa zawjati waṣiyyi nabiyyika ṣalātan tuzlifuhā fawqa zulfā 'ibādakal mukarramīn min ahlisssamāwāti wa ahlil arāḍīn

Peace be upon you, O Leader of the women of the worlds. Peace be upon you, O Mother of the Divine Proofs over all people. Peace be upon you, O she who was oppressed and denied her right. O Allah, send blessings upon Your servant, the daughter of Your Prophet and the wife of the successor of Your Prophet — blessings that elevate her beyond the closeness of Your honored servants from the people of the heavens and the people of the earths.
