Dua Simaat (Friday)
Shaykh Tusi, Sayyid ibna Tawus and Kafami report that this dua'a, according to Muhammad ibn Uthman Umri, a reliable represetative of Imam Sahibuz Zaman, was taught by Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al Baqir and Imam Jafar bin Muhammad Al Sadiq. Allama Majlisi says that all the pious religious scholars used to recite this dua'a. Shaykh Kafami says that this dua'a contains ismi azam (the great name of Allah). Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al Baqir advised the faithfuls to recite this dua'a as it brings the downfall of the enemies of Ahl ul Bayt. Imam Jafar bin Muhammad Al Sadiq(as) said that Allah swt taught this dua'a to prophet Musa to overcome his enemies. This dua'a is particularly recited in the closing hours before sunset on Friday . Also recite these words Just before sunset .."Subhaanaka laa ilaaha i
ِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismi allahi allrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ بِٱسْمِكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٱلاعْظَمِ
allahumma inni as'aluka bismika al`azimi ala`zami
O Allah, I beseech You by Your Name, the most great, most majestic,
ٱلاعَزِّ ٱلاجَلِّ ٱلاكْرَمِ
ala`azzi al-ajalli al-akrami
most magnificent, and most noble;
ٱلَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيتَ بِهِ عَلَىٰ مَغَاِلقِ ابْوَابِ ٱلسَّمَاء لِلْفَتْحِ بِٱلرَّحْمَةِ ٱنْفَتَحَتْ
alladhi idha du`ita bihi `ala maghaliqi abwabi alssama'i lilfathi bilrrahmati infatahat
if You are besought thereby to open the closed doors of the sky, they will be opened with Your mercy,
وَإِذَا دُعِيتَ بِهِ عَلَىٰ مَضَائقِ ابْوَابِ ٱلارْضِ لِلْفَرَجِ ٱنْفَرَجَتْ
wa idha du`ita bihi `ala mada'iqi abwabi al-ardi lilfaraji infarajat
if You are besought thereby to remove the narrow doors of the heavens for relief, they will be opened wide,
وَإِذَا دُعِيتَ بِهِ عَلىٰ ٱلْعُسْرِ لِلْيُسْرِ تَيَسَّرَتْ
wa idha du`ita bihi `ala al`usri lilyusri tayassarat
if You are besought thereby to make easy the difficulty, it will be easy,
وَإِذَا دُعِيتَ بِهِ عَلىٰ ٱلامْوَاتِ لِلنُّشُورِ ٱنتَشَرَتْ
wa idha du`ita bihi `ala al-amwati lilnnushuri intasharat
if You are besought thereby to restore the dead to life, they will rise from their graves,
وَإِذَا دُعِيتَ بِهِ عَلَىٰ كَشْفِ ٱلْبَاسَاء وَٱلضَّرَّاء ٱنْكَشَفَتْ
wa idha du`ita bihi `ala kashfi alba'sa'i walddarra'i inkashafat
if You are besought thereby to remove misery and adversity, they will be removed.
وَبِجَلاَلِ وَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ
wa bijalali wajhika alkarimi
I also beseech You in the name of the Majesty of Your Noble Face;
اكْرَمِ ٱلْوُجُوهِ وَاعَزِّ ٱلْوُجُوهِ
akrami alwujuhi wa a`azzi alwujuhi
the Noblest and most Honored of all faces
ٱلَّذِي عَنَتْ لَهُ ٱلْوُجُوهُ
alladhi `anat lahu alwujuhu
before Whom all faces bow down in submission,
وَخَضَعَتْ لَهُ ٱلرِّقَابُ
wa khada`at lahu alrriqabu
all necks bend down in reverence,
وَخَشَعَتْ لَهُ ٱلاصْوَاتُ
wa khasha`at lahu al-aswatu
all sounds yield,
وَوَجِلَتْ لَهُ ٱلْقُلُوبُ مِنْ مَخَافَتِكَ
wa wajilat lahu alqulubu min makhafatika
and all hearts tremble out of fear of You.
وَبِقُوَّتِكَ ٱلَّتِي بِهَا
wa biquwwatika allati biha
I also beseech You by Your Might
تُمْسِكُ ٱلسَّمَاء ان تَقَعَ عَلىٰ ٱلارْضِ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِكَ
tumsiku alssama'a an taqa`a `ala al-ardi illa bi'idhnika
by which You prevent the sky from falling on the earth except with Your permission,
وَتُمْسِكُ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضَ ان تَزُولاَ
wa tumsiku alssamawati wal-arda an tazula
and control the heavens and the earth so closely that they cannot move away from their positions,
وَبِمَشِيئَتِكَ ٱلَّتِي دَان لَهَا ٱلْعَالَمُونَ
wa bimashi'atika allati dana laha al`alamuna
by Your Will, which the whole world obeys,
وَبِكَلِمَتِكَ ٱلَّتِي خَلَقْتَ بِهَا ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضَ
wa bikalimatika allati khalaqta biha alssamawati wal-arda
by Your Word by which You have created the heavens and the earth,
وَبِحِكْمَتِكَ ٱلَّتِي صَنَعْتَ بِهَا ٱلْعَجَائبَ
wa bihikmatika allati sana`ta biha al`aja'iba
by Your Wisdom with which You have created the wonderful things,
وَخَلَقْتَ بِهَا ٱلظُّلْمَةَ وَجَعَلْتَهَا لَيْلاً
wa khalaqta biha alzzulmata wa ja`altaha laylan
created darkness, made it night,
وَجَعَلْتَ ٱللَّيْلَ سَكَناً
wa ja`alta allayla sakanan
made night the time of quiet and rest,
وَخَلَقْتَ بِهَا ٱلنُّورَ وَجَعَلْتَهُ نَهَاراً
wa khalaqta biha alnnura wa ja`altahu naharan
created light, made it daylight,
وَجَعَلْتَ ٱلنَّهَارَ نُشُوراً مُبْصِراً
wa ja`alta alnnahara nushuran mubsiran
made day the time of movement and observation,
وَخَلَقْتَ بِهَا ٱلشَّمْسَ وَجَعَلْتَ ٱلشَّمْسَ ضِيَاءاً
wa khalaqta biha alshshamsa wa ja`lta alshshamsa diya'an
created the sun, made the sun light,
وَخَلَقْتَ بِهَا ٱلقَمَرَ وَجَعَلْتَ ٱلقَمَرَ نُوراً
wa khalaqta biha alqamara wa ja`alta alqamara nuran
created the moon, made the moon of light,
وَخَلَقْتَ بِهَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبَ
wa khalaqta biha alkawakiba
created heavenly bodies,
وَجَعَلْتَهَا نُجُوماً وبُرُوجاً وَمَصَابِيحَ وَزِينَةً وَرُجُوماً
wa ja`ltaha nujuman wa burujan wa masabiha wa zinatan wa rujuman
made them fixed stars, planets, lamps for guidance at night, means of decoration, and missiles,
وَجَعَلْتَ لَهَا مَشَارِقَ وَمَغَارِبَ
wa ja`alta laha mashariqa wa maghariba
created for them east and west,
وَجَعَلْتَ لَهَا مَطَاِلعَ وَمَجَارِيَ
wa ja`alta laha matali`a wa majariya
created for them places of ascendancy and orbits,
وَجَعَلْتَ لَهَا فَلَكاً وَمَسَابِحَ
wa ja`alta laha falakan wa masabiha
created for them a firmament and spheres,
وَقَدَّرْتَهَا فِي ٱلسَّمَاء مَنَازِلَ فَاحْسَنتَ تَقْدِيرَهَا
wa qaddartaha fi alssama'i manazila fa-ahsanta taqdiraha
fixed for them stages in the heaven with excellent fixing,
وَصَوَّرْتَهَا فَاحْسَنتَ تَصْوِيرَهَا
wa sawwartaha fa-ahsanta taswiraha
shaped the stars with excellent shaping,
وَاحْصَيْتَهَا بِاسْمَائكَ إِحْصَاءاً
wa ahsaytaha bi-asma'ika ihsa'an
measured them through Your Names with exact measurement,
وَدَبَّرْتَهَا بِحِكْمَتِكَ تَدْبِيراً وَاحْسَنتَ تَدْبِيرَهَا
wa dabbartaha bihikmatika tadbiran fa-ahsanta tadbiraha
designed through Your wisdom a system for them with excellent design,
وَسَخَّرْتَهَا بِسُلْطَانِ ٱللَّيْلِ وَسُلْطَانِ ٱلنَّهَارِ
wa sakhkhartaha bisultani allayli wa sultani alnnahari
controlled the heavenly bodies through the influence of night and the influence of day,
وَٱلسَّاعَاتِ وَعَدَدِ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابِ
walssa`ati wa `adada alssinina walhisabi
and through hours, making them a means for the reckoning of years and counting,
وَجَعَلْتَ رُؤْيَتَهَا لِجَمِيعِ النَّاسِ مَرْأىً وَاحِداً
wa ja`alta ru'yataha lijami`i alnnasi mar'an wahidan
and made all people see them alike.
وَاسْالُكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ بِمَجْدِكَ
wa as'aluka allahumma bimajdika
I beseech You, O Allah, in the name of Your glory
ٱلَّذِي كَلَّمْتَ بِهِ عَبْدَكَ وَرَسُولَكَ مُوسَىٰ بْنَ عِمْرَانَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ فِي ٱلْمُقَدَّسِينَ
alladhi kallamta bihi `abdaka wa rasulaka musa ibna `imrana `alayhi alssalamu fi almuqaddasina
with which You addressed Your servant and Messenger, Moses the son of `Imran (`a) while he was in the company of angels;
فَوْقَ إِحْسَاسِ ٱلكَرُوبِيِّينَ
fawqa ihsasi alkarubiyyina
an address even the favorite cherubim could not ever hear,
فَوْقَ غَمَائمِ ٱلنُّورِ
fawqa ghama'imi alnnuri
above the clouds of light,
فَوْقَ تَابُوتِ ٱلشَّهَادَةِ
fawqa tabuti alshshahadati
above the box of evidence,
فِي عَمُودِ ٱلنَّارِ وَفِي طُورِ سَيْنَاء
fi `amudi alnnari wa fi turi sayna'a
within the pillar of fire on Mount Sinai
وَفِي جَبَلِ حُورِيثَ
wa fi jabali huritha
and on Mount Hurith
فِي ٱلْوَادِي ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ
fi alwadi almuqaddasi
in the Holy Vale
فِي ٱلْبُقْعَةِ ٱلْمُبَارَكَةِ
fi albuq`ati almubarakati
in the sacred tract of land
مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلايْمَنِ مِنَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ
min janibi altturi alaymani mina alshshajarati
to the right of Taurus Mountain through a tree,
وَفِي ارْضِ مِصْرَ بِتِسْعِ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ
wa fi ardi misra bitis`i ayatin bayyinatin
[and again addressed him] on the land of Egypt, after showing nine clear signs,
وَيَوْمَ فَرَقْتَ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ
wa yawma faraqta libani isra'ila albahra
and on the day You split the sea for the children of Israel,
وَفِي ٱلْمُنْبَجِسَاتِ ٱلَّتِي صَنَعْتَ بِهَا ٱلْعَجَائبَ فِي بَحْرِ سُوفٍ
wa fi almunbajisati allati sana`ta biha al`aja'iba fi bahri sufin
and caused springs to flow from a stone, thereby displaying wonders of Your might in a deep sea,
وَعَقَدْتَ مَاء ٱلْبَحْرِ فِي قَلْبِ ٱلْغَمْرِ كَٱلْحِجَارَةِ
wa `aqadta ma'a albahri fi qalbi alghamri kalhijarati
on the day when You solidified the water of the sea in the midst of the storm,
وَجَاوَزْتَ بِبَنِي إِسْرَائيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ
wa jawazta bibani isra'ila albahra
caused the children of Israel to pass by the sea,
وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُكَ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ عَلَيْهِم بِمَا صَبرُوٱ
wa tammat kalimatuka alhusna `alayhim bima sabaru
and fulfilled Your excellent promises made to them because of their calm endurance,
وَاوْرَثْتَهُم مَشَارِقَ ٱلارْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا ٱلَّتِي بَارَكْتَ فِيهَا لِلْعَالَمِينَ
wa awrathtahum mashariqa al-ardi wa magharibaha allati barakta fiha lil`alamina
made them the master of the East and the West in the earth wherein there are blessings for all the worlds,
وَاغْرَقْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجُنُودَهُ وَمَرَاكِبَهُ فِي ٱليَمِّ
wa aghraqta fir`awna wa junudahu wa marakibahu fi alyammi
drowned Pharaoh, his armies, and boats in the water.
وَبِٱسْمِكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٱلاعْظَمِ
wa bismika al`azimi al-a`zami
[I beseech You] by Your Name, the great, the Most Great,
ٱلاعَزِّ ٱلاجَلِّ ٱلاكْرَمِ
al-a`azzi al-ajalli al-akrami
the Most Honorable, Most Majestic, and Most Noble,
وَبِمَجْدِكَ ٱلَّذِي تَجَلَّيْتَ بِهِ لِمُوسَىٰ كَلِيمِكَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ فِي طُورِ سَيْنَاء
wa bimajdika alladhi tajallayta bihi limusa kalimika `alayhi alssalamu fi turi sayna'a
and by Your Glory with which You revealed Yourself as light to Moses, Your addressee, peace be on him, on Mount Sinai,
وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ خَلِيلِكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فِي مَسْجِدِ ٱلْخِيفِ
wa li'ibrahima `alayhi alssalamu khalilika min qablu fi masjidi alkhayfi
and earlier radiated the light for Abraham, Your sincere friend peace be on him, in the Mosque of al-Khif,
وَإِسْحَاقَ صَفِيِّكَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ فِي بِئْرِ شِيعٍ
wa li'ishaqa safiyyika `alayhi alssalamu fi bi'ri shi`in
and for Isaac, Your chosen Prophet, peace be on him, in Shi` Well,
وَلِيَعْقُوبَ نَبِيِّكَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ فِي بَيْتِ إِيلٍ
wa liya`quba nabiyyika `alayhi alssalamu fi bayti ilin
and for Your Prophet Jacob, peace be on him, in Bayt «l,
وَاوْفَيْتَ إِبْرِاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ بِمِيثَاقِكَ
wa awfayta li'ibrahima `alayhi alssalamu bimithaqika
and You fulfilled Your promise to Abraham, peace be on him,
وَإِسْحَاقَ بِحِلْفِكَ
wa li'ishaqa bihalfika
Your oath in favor of Isaac,
وَلِيَعْقُوبَ بِشَهَادَتِكَ
wa liya`quba bishahadatika
Your witnessing favoring Jacob,
وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِوَعْدِكَ
wa lilmu'minina biwa`dika
the fulfillments of Your promise to the faithful believers,
وَلِلدَّاعِينَ بِاسْمَائكَ فَاجَبْتَ
wa lildda`ina bi-asma'ika fa-ajabta
and Your Names with which You accepted the prayers of supplicants,
وَبِمَجْدِكَ ٱلَّذِي ظَهَرَ لِمُوسَىٰ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ قُبَّةِ ٱلرُّمَّانِ
wa bimajdika alladhi zahara limusa ibni `imrana `alayhi alssalamu `ala qubbati alrrummani
and by Your Glory, which appeared to Moses, the son of `Imran, in al-Rumman Dome,
وَبِآيَاتِكَ ٱلَّتِي وَقَعَتْ عَلَىٰ ارْضِ مِصْرَ
wa bi-ayatika allati waqa`at `ala ardi misra
and by Your Signs, which appeared in the land of Egypt
بِمَجْدِ ٱلْعِزَّةِ وَٱلْغَلَبَةِ
bimajdi al`izzati walghalabati
with great might and victory,
بِآيَاتٍ عَزِيزَةٍ
bi-ayatin `azizatin
with powerful signs,
وَبِسُلْطَانِ ٱلْقُوَّةِ
wa bisultani alquwwati
with the display of full command,
وَبِعِزَّةِ ٱلْقُدْرَةِ
wa bi`izzati alqudrati
great power,
وَبِشَاْنِ ٱلْكَلِمَةِ ٱلتَّامَّةِ
wa bisha'ni alkalimati alttammati
the affair of the perfect word,
وَبِكَلِمَاتِكَ ٱلَّتِي تَفَضَّلْتَ بِهَا عَلَىٰ اهْلِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضِ
wa bikalimatika allati tafaddalta biha `ala ahli alssamawati wal-ardi
and by Your words with which You do a favor to the inhabitants of the skies and the earth
وَاهْلِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَاهْلِ ٱلآخِرَةِ
wa ahli alddunya wa ahli al-akhirati
and the people of this world and the Next World,
وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ ٱلَّتِي مَنَنتَ بِهَا عَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِكَ
wa birahmatika allati mananta biha `ala jami`i khalqika
and by Your Mercy with which You bestow graces upon all Your creatures,
وَبِٱسْتِطَاعَتِكَ الَّتِي اقَمْتَ بِهَا عَلىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa bistita`atika allati aqamta biha `ala al`alamina
and by Your Power with which You dominate the worlds,
وَبِنُورِكَ ٱلَّذِي قَدْ خَرَّ مِنْ فَزَعِهِ طُورُ سَيْنَاء
wa binurika alladhi qad kharra min faza`ihi turu sayna'a
and by Your Light through fear of which Mount Sinai collapsed,
وَبِعِلْمِكَ وَجَلاَلِكَ وَكِبْرِيَائكَ وَعِزَّتِكَ
wa bi`ilmika wa jalalika wa kibriya'ika wa `izzatika
and by Your Knowledge, Majesty, Greatness, Honor,
وَجَبرُوتِكَ ٱلَّتِي لَمْ تَسْتَقِلَّهَا ٱلارَضُ
wa jabarutika allati lam tastaqillaha al-ardu
and Might, which the earth could not bear,
وَٱنْخَفَضَتْ لَهَا ٱلسَّمَاوَاتُ
wankhafadat laha alssamawatu
the heavens bent down,
وَٱنْزَجَرَ لَهَا ٱلْعُمْقُ ٱلاكْبرُ
wanzajara laha al`umqu al-akbaru
the great depths restrained themselves,
وَرَكَدَتْ لَهَا ٱلْبِحَارُ وَٱلانْهَارُ
wa rakadat laha albiharu wal-anharu
oceans and rivers became stable,
وَخَضَعَتْ لَهَا ٱلْجِبَالُ
wa khada`at laha aljibalu
mountains yielded,
وَسَكَنَتْ لَهَا ٱلارْضُ بِمَنَاكِبِهَا
wa sakanat laha al-ardu bimanakibiha
the earth became firm on its shoulders,
وَٱسْتَسْلَمَتْ لَهَا ٱلْخَلائقُ كُلُّهَا
wastaslamat laha alkhala'iqu kulluha
all creatures surrendered,
وَخَفَقَتْ لَهَا ٱلرِّيَاحُ فِي جَرَيَانِهَا
wa khafaqat laha alrriyahu fi jarayaniha
the winds breathed in their flow,
وَخَمَدَتْ لَهَا ٱلنِّيـرَانُ فِي اوْطَانِهَا
wa khamadat laha alnniranu fi awtaniha
and the flaming fires were extinguished in their places,
وَبِسُلْطَانِكَ ٱلَّذِي عُرِفَتْ لَكَ بِهِ ٱلْغَلَبَةُ دَهْرَ ٱلدُّهُورِ
wa bisultanika alladhi `urifat laka bihi alghalabatu dahra aldduhuri
and by Your authority through which You are acknowledged to have All-powerfulness all the times
وَحُمِدْتَ بِهِ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارَضِينَ
wa humidta bihi fi alssamawati wal-aradina
and for which You are praised in the heavens and the earth,
وَبِكَلِمَتِكَ كَلِمَةِ ٱلصِّدْقِ ٱلَّتِي سَبَقَتْ لابِينَا آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ بٱلرَّحْمَةِ
wa bikalimatika kalimati alssidqi allati sabaqat li-abina adama `alayhi alssalamu wa dhurriyyatihi bilrrahmati
and by Your word, the Word of Truth, which had became mercy for our father Adam and his offspring,
وَاسْالُكَ بِكَلِمَتِكَ ٱلَّتِي غَلَبَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ
wa as'aluka bikalimatika allati ghalabat kulla shay'in
and by Your word that overcame everything,
وَبِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ ٱلَّذِي تَجَلَّيْتَ بِهِ لِلْجَبَلِ
wa binuri wajhika alladhi tajallayta bihi liljabali
and by the light of Your Face, which when You showed to the Mount,
فَجَعَلْتَهُ دَكّاً وَخَرَّ مُوسَىٰ صَعِقاً
faja`altahu dakkan wa kharra musa sa`iqan
You caused it to crush into pieces, whereby Moses fainted and fell down,
وَبِمَجْدِكَ ٱلَّذِي ظَهَرَ عَلَىٰ طُورِ سَينْاءَ
wa bimajdika alladhi zahara `ala turi sayna'a
and by Your Glory, which appeared on Mount Sinai,
فَكَلَّمْتَ بِهِ عَبْدَكَ وَرَسُولَكَ مُوسَىٰ بْنَ عِمْرَانَ
fakallamta bihi `abdaka wa rasulaka musa ibna `imrana
and through which You addressed Your servant and Messenger, Moses, the son of `Imran,
وَبِطَلْعَتِكَ فِي سَاعِيرَ
wa bital`atika fi sa`ira
and by Your appearance in Sa`ir,
وَظُهُورِكَ فِي جَبَلِ فَارَانَ بِرَبَوَاتِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِينَ
wa zuhurika fi jabali farana birabawati almuqaddasina
and by Your appearance on Mount Faran on the heights of the holy ones,
وَجُنُودِ ٱلْمَلائكَةِ ٱلصَّافِّينَ
wa junudi almala'ikati alssaffina
When the troops of angels were in rows,
وَخُشُوعِ ٱلْمَلائكَةِ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
wa khushu`i almala'ikati almusabbihina
and with the submissiveness of the angels glorifying You,
وَبِبَرَكَاتِكَ ٱلَّتِي بَارَكْتَ فِيهَا عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِكَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ
wa bibarakatika allati barakta fiha `ala ibrahima khalilika `alayhi alssalamu
and by Your blessings by which You honored Abraham, Your sincere friend (`a)
فِي امَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
fi ummati muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
among the people of Muhammad, Your blessings be upon him and his household,
وَبَارَكْتَ لإِسْحَاقَ صَفِيِّكَ
wa barakta li-ishaqa safiyyika
and You blessed Isaac, Your chosen prophet,
فِي امَّةِ عِيسَىٰ عَلَيْهِمَا ٱلسَّلاَمُ
fi ummati `isa `alayhima alssalamu
among the followers of Jesus, peace be on them both,
وَبَارَكْتَ لِيَعْقُوبَ إِسْرَائيلِكَ
wa barakta liya`quba isra'ilika
and You blessed Jacob, Your favored servant,
فِي امَّةِ مُوسَىٰ عَلَيْهِمَا ٱلسَّلاَمُ
fi ummati musa `alayhima alssalamu
by including him among the followers of Moses, peace be on them both,
وَبَارَكْتَ لِحَبِيبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
wa barakta lihabibika muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
and blessed Your intimate beloved, Muhammad, may the blessings of Allah be upon him and his Household,
فِي عِتْرَتِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ وَامَّتِهِ
fi `itratihi wa dhurriyyatihi wa ummatihi
in his offspring, offspring, and people.
اللَّهُمَّ وَكَمَا غِبْنَا عَنْ ذٰلِكَ وَلَمْ نَشْهَدْهُ وَآمَنَّا بِهِ وَلَمْ نَرَهُ صِدْقاً وَعَدْلاً
allahumma wa kama ghibna `an dhalika wa lam nash-had-hu wa amanna bihi wa lam narahu sidqan wa `adlan
O Allah! Just as we were absent from that but we believe in it honestly and truly,
ان تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
So we beseech You to send Your benedictions upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَان تُبَارِكَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa an tubarika `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to bless Muhammad and the household of Muhammad,
وَتَرَحَّمْ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa tarahham `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
and to have mercy on Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
كَافْضَلِ مَا صَلَّيْتَ وَبَارَكْتَ وَتَرَحَّمْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَآلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
ka-afdali ma sallayta wa barakta wa tarahhamta `ala ibrahima wa ali ibrahima
with the most auspicious benedictions, blessings, and mercy that You sent to Abraham and the posterity of Abraham.
إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
innaka hamidun majidun
Surely, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious,
فَعَّالٌ لِمَا تُرِيدُ
fa``alun lima turidu
and Doer of what You will.
وَانتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
wa anta `ala kulli shay'in qadirun
You are Powerful over all things.
اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا ٱلدُّعَاءِ
allahumma bihaqqi hadha alddu`a'i
O Allah, in the name of this prayer
وَبِحَقِّ هٰذِهِ ٱلاسْمَاءِ
wa bihaqqi hadhihi al-asma'i
and in the name of these Names
ٱلَّتِي لاَ يَعْلَمُ تَفْسِيرَهَا
allati la ya`lamu tafsiraha
which none knows their exegesis
وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ بَاطِنَهَا غَيْرُكَ
wa la ya`lamu batinaha ghayruka
or their implicit meanings save You,
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
(please) send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَٱفْعَلْ بِي مَا انتَ اهْلُهُ
waf`al bi ma anta ahluhu
do to me that of which You are worthy,
وَلاَ تَفْعَلْ بِي مَا انَا اهْلُهُ
wa la taf`al bi ma ana ahluhu
do not do to me what I deserve,
وَٱغْفِرْ لِي مِنْ ذُنُوبِي مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهَا وَمَا تَاخَّرَ
waghfir li min dhunubi ma taqaddama minha wa ma ta'akhkhara
forgive my sins—past and future,
وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ مِنْ حَلاَلِ رِزْقِكَ
wa wassi` `alayya min halali rizqika
increase Your lawful sustenance for me,
وَٱكْفِنِي مَؤُونَةَ إِنْسَانِ سَوٍْء
wakfini ma'unata insani saw'in
and save me from the trouble of wicked men,
وَجَارِ سَوٍْء
wa jari saw'in
wicked neighbors,
وَقَرِينِ سَوٍْء
wa qarini saw'in
wicked companions,
وَسُلْطَانِ سَوٍْء
wa sultani saw'in
and wicked rulers.
إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ مَا تَشَاء قَدِيرٌ
innaka `ala ma tasha'u qadirun
Verily, You have power over all that You will to do
وَبِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
wa bikulli shay'in `alimun
and You have full knowledge of all things.
آمِين رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
amina rabba al`alamina
Respond to me, O Lord of the worlds.
يَا اللَّهُ يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ
ya allahu ya hannanu ya mannanu
O Allah! O All-tender! O Bestower!
يَا بَدِيعَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلارْضِ
ya badi`a alssamawati wal-ardi
O Fashioner of the heavens and the earth!
يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلإكْرَامِ
ya dhaljalali wal-ikrami
O Lord of Majesty and Honor!
يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
ya arhama alrrahimina
O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا ٱلدُّعَاءِ)
allahumma bihaqqi hadha alddu`a'i
(O Allah! I beseech You in the name of this prayer)...…
اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا الدُّعَاءِ
allahumma bihaqqi hadha alddu`a'i
O Allah! I beseech You in the name of this prayer
وَبِحَقِّ هٰذِهِ ٱلاسْمَاءِ
wa bihaqqi hadhihi al-asma'i
and in the name of these Names
ٱلَّتِي لاَ يَعْلَمُ تَفْسِيرَهَا وَلاَ تَاْوِيلَهَا
allati la ya`lamu tafsiraha wa la ta'wilaha
which none knows their exegesis or interpretation
وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ بَاطِنَهَا وَلاَ ظَاهِرَهَا غَيْرُكَ
wa la batinaha wa la zahiraha ghayruka
and none knows their implicit or explicit meanings save You,
انْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَان تَرْزُقَنِي خَيْرَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ
wa an tarzuqani khayra alddunya wal-akhirati
and to provide me with the good of this world and the Next World.
وَٱفْعَلْ بِي مَا انتَ اهْلُهُ
waf`al bi ma anta ahluhu
Do to me that of which You are worthy
وَلاَ تَفْعَلْ بِي مَا انَا اهْلُهُ
wa la taf`al bi ma ana ahluhu
but do not do to me what I deserve,
وَٱنْتَقِمْ لِي مِنْ
wantaqim li min…
and exact vengeance from… [so-and-so]
وَٱغْفِرْ لِي مِنْ ذُنُوبِي مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهَا وَمَا تَاخَّرَ
waghfir li min dhunubi ma taqaddama minha wa ma ta'akhkhara
forgive my sins—past and future,
وَلِوَاِلدَيَّ وَلِجَمِيعِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ
wa liwalidayya wa lijami`i almu'minina walmu'minati
forgive my parents and all faithful believers—men and women,
وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ مِنْ حَلاَلِ رِزْقِكَ
wa wassi` `alayya min halali rizqika
increase Your lawful sustenance for me,
وَٱكْفِنِي مَؤُونَةَ إِنْسَانِ سَوٍْء
wakfini ma'unata insani saw'in
save me from the troubles of wicked men,
وَجَارِ سَوٍْء
wa jari saw'in
wicked neighbors,
وَسُلْطَانِ سَوٍْء
wa sultani saw'in
wicked rulers,
وَقَرِينِ سَوٍْء
wa qarini saw'in
wicked companions,
وَيَوْمِ سَوٍْء
wa yawmi saw'in
evil days,
وَسَاعَةِ سَوٍْء
wa sa`ati saw'in
and evil hours,
وَٱنْتَقِمْ لِي مِمَّن يَكِيدُنِي
wantaqim li mimman yakiduni
and exact vengeance for me on everyone who hatches secret plots against me,
وَمِمَّن يَبْغِي عَلَيَّ
wa mimman yabghi `alayya
on everyone who oppresses me,
وَيُرِيدُ بِي وَبِاهْلِي
wa yuridu bi wa bi-ahli
seeks to do injustice to me, my wife,
وَاوْلادِي وَإِخْوَانِي
wa awladi wa ikhwani
my children, my brothers,
وَجِيرَانِي وَقَرَابَاتِي
wa jirani wa qarabati
my neighbors, and my relatives
مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ظُلْماً
mina almu'minina walmu'minati zulman
among faithful men and women.
إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ مَا تَشَاء قَدِيرٌ
innaka `ala ma tasha'u qadirun
Verily, You have power to do whatever You will to do
وَبِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
wa bikulli shay'in `alimun
and You have full knowledge of all things.
آمِين رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
amina rabba al`alamina
Respond to me, O Lord of the worlds.
اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ هٰذَا الدُّعَاءِ
allahumma bihaqqi hadha alddu`a'i
O Allah! In the name of this prayer, I beseech You
تَفَضَّلْ عَلَىٰ فُقَرَاء ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِٱلْغِنَىٰ وَٱلثَّرْوَةِ
tafaddal `ala fuqara'i almu'minina walmu'minati bilghina walththarwati
to grant wealth and affluence to indigent faithful men and women,
وَعَلَىٰ مَرْضَىٰ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِٱلشِّفَاء وَٱلصِّحَّةِ
wa `ala marda almu'minina walmu'minati bilshshafa'i walssihhati
recovery and wellbeing to the sick faithful men and women,
وَعَلَىٰ احْيَاء ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِٱللُّطْفِ وَٱلْكَرَامَةِ
wa `ala ahya'i almu'minina walmu'minati billutfi walkaramati
bliss and clemency to the living faithful men and women,
وَعَلَىٰ امْوَاتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ وَٱلرَّحْمَةِ
wa `ala amwati almu'minina walmu'minati bilmaghfirati walrrahmati
remit the sins of, and have mercy on, the deceased faithful men and women,
وَعَلَىٰ مُسَافِرِي ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِٱلرَّدِّ إِلَىٰ اوْطَانِهِمْ سَالِمِينَ غَانِمِينَ
wa `ala musafiri almu'minina walmu'minati bilrraddi ila awtanihim salmina ghanimina
and arrange the return of all faithful travelers with safety and gain,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
birahmatika ya arhama alrrahimina
by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.
وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ وَعِتْرَتِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ
wa salla allahu `ala sayyidina muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina wa `itratihi alttahirina
May Allah send blessings to our master Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and upon his Household, the purified
وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً
wa sallama tasliman kathiran
and send peace upon them in abundant measure.
وَبِمَا فَاتَ مِنْهُ مِنَ ٱلاسْمَاءِ
wa bima fata minhu mina al-asma'i
the Names mentioned therein,
وَبِمَا يَشْتَمِلُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّفْسِيرِ وَٱلتَّدْبِيرِ
wa bima yashtamilu `alayhi mina alttafsiri walttadbiri
and the explanation and deep meanings of these names
ٱلَّذِي لاَ يُحِيطُ بِهِ إِلاَّ انْتَ…
alladhi la yuhitu bihi illa anta…
that none comprehends save You...
