Munajaat 11: Al-Muftaqireen (The Utterly Poor)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful
إِلٰهِي كَسْرِي لاَ يَجْبُرُهُ إِلاَّ لُطْفُكَ وَحَنَانُكَ
ilahi kasri la yajburuhu illa lutfuka wa hananuka
My God, nothing will mend my fracture but Your gentleness and loving care,
وَفَقْرِي لاَ يُغْنِيهِ إِلاَّ عَطْفُكَ وَإِحْسَانُكَ
wa faqri la yughnihi illa `atfuka wa ihsanuka
free me of my poverty but Your affection and beneficence,
وَرَوْعَتِي لاَ يُسَكِّنُهَا إِلاَّ أَمَانُكَ
wa raw`ati la yusakkinuha illa amanuka
still my fright but Your security,
وَذِلَّتِي لاَ يُعِزُّهَا إِلاَّ سُلْطانُكَ
wa dhillati la yu`izzuha illa sultanuka
exalt my abasement but Your sovereignty,
وَأُمْنِيَتِي لاَ يُبَلِّغُنِيهَا إِلاَّ فَضْلُكَ
wa umniyati la yuballighuniha illa fadluka
take me to my hope but Your bounty,
وَخَلَّتِي لاَ يَسُدُّهَا إِلاَّ طَوْلُكَ
wa khallati la yasudduha illa tawluka
remedy my lack but Your graciousness,
وَحَاجَتِي لاَ يَقْضِيهَا غَيْرُكَ
wa hajati la yaqdiha ghayruka
accomplish my need other than You,
وَكَرْبِي لاَ يُفَرِّجُهُ سِوَىٰ رَحْمَتِكَ
wa karbi la yufarrijuhu siwa rahmatika
relieve my distress other than Your mercy,
وَضُرِّي لاَ يَكْشِفُهُ غَيْرُ رَأْفَتِكَ
wa durri la yakshifuhu ghayru ra'fatika
remove my injury other than Your clemency,
وَغُلَّتِي لاَ يُبَرِّدُهَا إِلاَّ وَصْلُكَ
wa ghullati la yubarriduha illa wasluka
cool my burning thirst but reaching You,
وَلَوْعَتِي لاَ يُطْفِيهَا إِلاَّ لِقَاؤُكَ
wa law`ati la yutfiha illa liqa'uka
quench my ardor but meeting You,
وَشَوْقِي إِلَيْكَ لاَ يَبُلُّهُ إِلاَّ ٱلنَّظَرُ إِلَىٰ وَجْهِكَ
wa shawqi ilayka la yabulluhu illa annazaru ila wajhika
damp my yearning but gazing upon Your face,
وَقَرَارِي لاَ يَقِرُّ دُونَ دُنُوِّي مِنْكَ
wa qarari la yaqirru duna dunuwwi minka
settle my settling place without closeness to You,
وَلَهْفَتِي لاَ يَرُدُّهَا إِلاَّ رَوْحُكَ
wa lahfati la yarudduha illa rawhuka
allay my worry but Your repose,
وَسَقَمِي لاَ يَشْفِيهِ إِلاَّ طِبُّكَ
wa saqami la yashfihi illa tibbuka
cure my illness but Your medicine,
وَغَمِّي لاَ يُزِيلُهُ إِلاَّ قُرْبُكَ
wa ghammi la yuziluhu illa qurbuka
eliminate my grief but Your nearness,
وَجُرْحِي لاَ يُبْرِئُهُ إِلاَّ صَفْحُكَ
wa jurhi la yubri'uhu illa safhuka
heal my wound but Your forgiveness,
وَرَيْنُ قَلْبِي لاَ يَجْلُوهُ إِلاَّ عَفْوُكَ
wa raynu qalbi la yajluhu illa `afwuka
remove the rust on my heart but Your pardon,
وَوَسْوَاسُ صَدْرِي لاَ يُزِيحُهُ إِلاَّ أَمْرُكَ
wa waswasu sadri la yuzihuhu illa amruka
banish the confusing thoughts from my breast but Your command
فَيَا مُنْتَهَىٰ أَمَلِ ٱلآمِلِينَ
faya muntaha amali al-amilina
O Utmost Hope of the hopers!
وَيَا غَايَةَ سُؤْلِ ٱلسَّائِلينَ
wa ya ghayata su'li assa'ilina
O Ultimate Demand of the askers
وَيَا أَقْصَىٰ طِلْبَةِ ٱلطَّالِبِينَ
wa ya aqsa tilbati attalibina
O Furthest Request of the requesters!
وَيَا أَعْلَىٰ رَغْبَةِ ٱلرَّاغِبِينَ
wa ya a`la raghbati arraghibina
O Highest Desire of the desirers
وَيَا وَلِيَّ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ
wa ya waliyya assalihina
O Patron of the righteous
وَيَا أَمَانَ ٱلْخَائِفِينَ
wa ya amana alkha'ifina
O Security of the fearful
وَيَا مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ ٱلْمُضْطَرِّينَ
wa ya mujiba da`wait almudtarrina
O Responder to the supplication of the distressed
وَيَا ذُخْرَ ٱلْمُعْدَمِينَ
wa ya dhukhra almu`damina
O Storehouse of the destitute
وَيَا كَنْزَ ٱلْبَائِسِينَ
wa ya kanza alba'isina
O Treasure of the pitiful
وَيَا غِيَاثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ
wa ya ghiyatha almustaghithina
O Help of the help-seekers
وَيَا قَاضِيَ حَوَائِجِ ٱلْفُقَرَاءِ وَٱلْمسَاكِينِ
wa ya qadiya hawa'iji alfuqara'i walmsakini
O Accomplisher of the needs of the poor and the miserable
وَيَا أَكْرَمَ ٱلأَكْرَمِينَ
wa ya akrama al-akramina
O Most Generous of the most generous
وَيَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
wa ya arhama arrahimina
O Most Merciful of the merciful
لَكَ تَخَضُّعِي وَسُؤَالِي
laka takhaddu`i wa su'ali
To You is my humble subjection and request,
وَإِلَيْكَ تَضَرُّعِي وَٱبْتِهَالِي
wa ilayka tadarru`i wa ibtihali
to You my pleading and imploring
أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُنِيلَنِي مِنْ رَوْحِ رِضْوَانِكَ
as'aluka an tunilani min rawhi ridwanika
I ask You to let me attain the repose of Your good pleasure,
وَتُدِيمَ عَلَيَّ نِعَمَ ٱمْتِنَانِكَ
wa tudima `alayya ni`ama imtinanika
and to make constant toward me the favors of Your kindness
وَهَا أَنَا بِبَابِ كَرَمِكَ وَاقِفٌ
wa ha ana bibabi karamika waqifun
Here am I, standing before the gate of Your generosity,
وَلِنَفَحَاتِ بِرِّكَ مُتَعَرِّضٌ
wa linafahati birrika muta`arridun
opening myself up to the breezes of Your goodness,
وَبِحَبْلِكَ ٱلشَّدِيدِ مُعْتَصِمٌ
wa bihablika ashshadidi mu`tasimun
holding fast to Your strong cord,
وَبِعُرْوَتِكَ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ مُتَمَسِّكٌ
wa bi`urwatika alwuthqa mutamassikun
clinging to Your firm handle!
إِلٰهِي ٱرْحَمْ عَبْدَكَ ٱلذَّلِيلَ
ilahi irham `abdaka adhdhalila
My God, have mercy upon Your lowly slave
ذَا ٱللِّسَانِ ٱلْكَلِيلِ
dhallisani alkalili
of silent tongue
وَٱلْعَمَلِ ٱلْقَلِيلِ
wal`amali alqalili
and few good works,
وَٱمْنُنْ عَلَيْهِ بِطَوْلِكَ ٱلْجَزِيلِ
wamnun `alayhi bitawlika aljazili
obligate him through Your plentiful graciousness,
وَٱكْنُفْهُ تَحْتَ ظِلِّكَ ٱلظَّلِيلِ
waknufhu tahta zillika azzalili
shelter him under Your plenteous shade!
يَا كَرِيمُ يَا جَمِيلُ
ya karimu ya jamilu
O Generous, O Beautiful,
يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
ya arhama arrahimina
O Most Merciful of the merciful!
