The Morning Star

**In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful** The subjects in this Surah are mainly divided into two groups: 1. Resurrection and 2. The Holy Qur'an and its value. At the beginning, after some reflective oaths, it points to the existence of some divine protectors of man. To make manifest the possibility of Resurrection, it refers to the first stage of man's life and his creation from a sperm drop and then it draws a conclusion that the Creator, who is able to create him from such a lowly life-germ, can give life again, to him. In the following part, it describes the Resurrection and the uniqueness it has. Then, it offers some meaningful oaths to verify the importance of the Holy Qur'an; and finally, it finishes the Surah by mentioning Allah’s punishments for the unbelievers in order to give a warning to them.

    Wassamaaa'i wattaariq

I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star --

    Wa maaa adraaka mattaariq

How will you comprehend what the night star is?

    Annajmus saaqib

It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness --

In kullu nafsil lammaa 'alaihaa haafiz

That over each soul there is a guardian.

    Fal yanzuril insaanu mimma khuliq

Let man consider what he was made of:

    Khuliqa mim maaa'in daafiq

He was created of spurting water

    Yakhruju mim bainissulbi wat taraaa'ib

Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs.

    Innahoo 'alaa raj'ihee laqaadir

God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead).

    Yawma tublas saraaa'ir

The day all secrets are examined

Famaa lahoo min quwwatinw wa laa naasir

He will have no strength or helper.

    Wassamaaa'i zaatir raj'

So I call to witness the rain-producing sky,

    Wal ardi zaatis sad'

And the earth which opens up (with verdure),

    Innahoo laqawlun fasl

That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word

    Wa maa huwa bil hazl

    And no trifle.

    Innahum yakeedoona kaidaa

They are hatching up a plot,

    Wa akeedu kaidaa

But I too am devising a plan.

    Famahhilil kaafireena amhilhum ruwaidaa

So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while.
